Within the Orthopaedic Department there are 13 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons specialising in a variety of procedures such as hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and hand surgery, plus an Orthopaedic Service for children. Many of these procedures are carried out in the Trust's dedicated Day Surgery Centre.

Working alongside the Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Department have several Extended Role Nurse Practitioners and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists who undertake pre-operative assessments in the Trust's Theatre Admissions Unit. There are also two Trauma Co-ordinators who organise the management of trauma and two Extended Role Nurse Practitioners attached to the wards, working closely with both the medical and nursing staff to enhance patient care. A physiotherapy based back pain service is also provided and Extended Role Physiotherapists are embedded within the Knee Service.
