The Watoto Children’s Choir entertained patients, visitors and members of staff at Rotherham Hospital on 28 March as part of their UK tour.

The choir, made up of Ugandan children who have lost one or both parents to AIDS or to war, performed in the hospital’s main entrance for around 20 minutes, raising people’s spirits with their energetic mix of singing and dancing.

Watoto Children’s Choirs have travelled extensively since 1994, sharing a message of hope for Africa’s most vulnerable children and women.

Samantha Robinson, Head of Patient Experience at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The choir were fabulous. Their energy and enthusiasm was inspirational. The joy on their faces was contagious and you could see everyone smiling and joining in with some of the dancing.”

The performance was streamed live on The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust’s Facebook page, where a video is now available for those who were unable to watch at the time.
