Quitting smoking when you are pregnant is the most important step you
can take to make sure you have a healthy and happy pregnancy and to give you
baby the best start in life.
The Rotherham smoking in pregnancy team is a free specialist service to
support women to stop smoking during their pregnancy.
Many women who want to give up smoking often feel guilty that they
smoke. The stop smoking team knows how hard it can be to quit smoking and
doesn’t judge women who smoke. You are four times more likely to quit smoking
with our help.

How can we help?
All women who smoke will be referred to the smoking in pregnancy team.
You will be given an appointment at a time and place that suits you to ensure
you get the help that you need.
The smoking in pregnancy team can provide you with the following:
- Weekly
face to face visits – please note that these are currently on hold due to
Covid-19
- Telephone
support
- Free
nicotine replacement treatment and information on using the e-cigarette
- Support
throughout your pregnancy and postnatal period
It is never too late to stop smoking during pregnancy. Everyone has
their own reasons
to quit, we will explore these with you and help you to stay on the right
track!
How to get support
Ask your midwife, doctor or health professional at any point in your
pregnancy to refer you to the smoking in pregnancy team.

You are more likely to quit, and stay quit, if those around you stop
